Kittens are very dependent creatures. They need to be taught where to sleep, where you can and cannot go to the toilet, and sometimes you even have to learn how to drink milk. If your kitten doesn't know how to do this on his own, help him learn.

Instructions

Step 1

Give the kitten a taste of the milk. In general, giving a small kitten milk is only worthwhile as a last resort - if there is no mother with him. At least until the age of one month, the kitten must feed on breast milk, and later she herself must teach him to drink from a saucer. Do not give your kitten regular store milk unless absolutely necessary. Purchase a special milk formula for kittens at the pet store, dilute according to the instructions. To do this, use only perfectly clean dishes without any foreign odors. Soak your finger in the milk mixture and bring it to the kitten's face. He should lick your finger. If he refuses to do this, very gently open his jaw and drip the mixture into his mouth. It is necessary for the kitten to recognize the taste of milk.

Step 2

Take a dropper, pour the milk mixture into it (or milk, if you couldn't get the mixture in any way), open the kitten's mouth and very carefully, drop by drop, pour the milk into his mouth. Do this very carefully so that he does not choke. Remember that a kitten's stomach is about the size of a thimble, so you can figure out how much milk you can give him.

Step 3

Feed your kitten this way for a while. Then start teaching him to drink from a bowl on his own. Pour milk into a low bowl (preferably a saucer) and place the kitten in front of him. Perhaps he will smell a familiar smell and start drinking himself. If not, then gently poke his muzzle into a saucer so that he soaks it a little in milk. He will immediately lick the milk and quickly figure out how to drink from the saucer. But even if the kitten still did not want to drink on its own, do not be discouraged - after a while he will definitely understand what's what. At first, the kitten will sneeze and snort when it is drinking - do not be alarmed, it just does not know how to drink properly yet, and milk gets into its nose.
