Scottish cats with straight ears, or Scottish Straights, are similar to British cats, and at first they were registered as British Shorthairs, but later they began to be considered a separate breed. Then their modern name appeared.
Appearance
Scottish straight cats are sleeker and lighter than British ones, their body is more elongated. On average, female Scottish straights weigh 3-4 kg, males - 4-5 kg. Paws are round, of medium length. The head of the Scots is round, smoothly merging into a short neck. The chin is strong, the jaws are strong. The nose of the representatives of this breed is short, neat, the eyes are large, expressive, rounded. Eye color - yellow, amber, yellow-green. The ears are medium in size, slightly rounded.
Wool and color
Scottish Straights have short hair that is soft and silky to the touch. The color can be almost any. Plain (white, blue, black), tortoiseshell, striped, tabby and many others are widespread. Marble colors of any color look very nice.
Character
Cats of the Scottish Straight breed are good-natured, balanced, strongly attached to the owner and home, they do not tolerate a change of environment very well. Kittens of this breed are playful, easily accustomed to the tray and scratching posts, so, as a rule, there is no particular trouble with them.
Knitting
Scottish Straights are essential when mating Scottish Folds (Scottish Folds), because two folds can give birth to kittens with bone abnormalities. Therefore, a straight-eared cat is selected a lop-eared male, and a lop-eared - a straight-eared one. Then the offspring will be strong and healthy.
