Previously, dogs were rarely washed. Now veterinarians recommend washing the dog as the coat gets dirty. And in urban conditions a lot of dirt and dust accumulates on the dog. The coat becomes greasy. The dog needs to be taught to wash in the bath from childhood - from four months.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose your dog's shampoo carefully. A low-quality and cheap one can wash off the top fat layer of the skin - sebum, which serves as a natural protection against environmental influences.
Don't buy 2-in-1 shampoos: conditioner and shampoo have different functions, so you need to use them separately.
Shampoos for humans cannot be used on dogs. Shampoos for humans and animals have different formulations, so the dog can not only get itchy skin, but also various inflammations and skin irritations.
Special shampoos and conditioners for dogs do not disturb the fat balance of the skin, wash well the coat and make it healthy and shiny.
Step 2
Having chosen the shampoo, proceed to the very bathing. Pour warm water at about 40 ° into a basin or bath. Comb the long-haired dog before bathing.
It is better to dilute the shampoo in a small container so that foam appears. This makes it easier to apply and rinse off.
Step 3
Wet the dog completely. Apply shampoo to your dog's back. Then, rubbing into the wool, lather the belly, legs, tail. The head and ears should be washed last. Be careful not to get shampoo in your ears or eyes.
Step 4
You can wash off by pouring from a ladle or from a shower. Start rinsing off your head. Then go to the back, tail, armpits and belly. Rinse your paws well, walk your toes between the pads so that there is no sand or dirt left. Rinse off the lather thoroughly by rubbing the coat all the way to the skin. This is especially true for long-haired dogs. If the shampoo remains on the skin, it can cause itching or redness of the skin and the dog will start to itch all the time.
Step 5
After rinsing the entire dog, squeeze out excess water from the coat. Let the dog dust off on its own. Then use a large terry towel to dry your pet in the direction of hair growth, paying attention to the armpits and paws. Long-haired dogs can be blow-dried at low power if they are accustomed to this procedure.
Dogs are very sensitive to drafts, so make sure that windows and doors are closed.
