It is tempting to have a reliable watchdog in your home, of course, but there are serious concerns that fighting skills may be overdeveloped. In this case, one cannot do without a serious correction of character. Given the likely reaction of the dog to an outsider, it should be isolated in advance, preferably in a cage that the Shar Pei should consider his property. As a last resort, a collar, leash and a reliable muzzle will not be superfluous. If a long visit is expected, it is worth letting the dog get used to it, and those who come do not show any interest or aggression towards the dog. It should be remembered that very often attempts to reason with them with the help of physical force lead to the opposite result. Still, the Shar Pei is considered a family dog, although it may not be patient enough with children. But, it must be admitted, the devotion of the Shar Pei is beyond praise.
