There are several ways to train your cat or cat to use the toilet. Some of them may seem so complex that the owners of these pets give up the idea, never making a single attempt to implement it. This method is quite simple and accessible even to those who have never dealt with these cute animals before.
Instructions
Step 1
To get started, your pet should already be litter-trained. In this case, the location of the tray does not really matter, the main thing is to move it as close to the toilet as possible. To do this, the tray should be moved 3-5 cm towards the toilet after each use.
Step 2
When the tray is finally at the foot of the toilet, you can proceed to the next step. To do this, you will need a whole bunch of unnecessary newspapers and magazines. Place a small stack of newspapers underneath each tray after each use. The height of the tray should not increase too quickly, try not to raise it higher than 1-2 cm at a time, otherwise your pet will suspect something was wrong and start dictating its own terms.
If your cat shows any signs of stubbornness during training, stop. Give him some time to get used to the result already achieved. Also, do not forget to monitor the stability of the newspaper structure - if it falls apart at the most crucial moment, then all your subsequent actions may be in vain.
At the same time as raising the tray to a higher height, gradually reduce the amount of filler used. The ideal option is to avoid using filler altogether from the very beginning.
Step 3
When the height of the newspaper and magazine bale is on the same level as the toilet, then you can proceed to the most important stage. The bale of newspapers must be removed without leaving a trace (in a place where your pet cannot get), and the tray must be placed directly on the toilet, securely fastened. It is very important that the tray does not wobble during use, otherwise the cat will be afraid to walk into it.
Step 4
After your pet goes into the litter box 2-3 times, it should be hidden. It is better, of course, to move the tray out of the apartment altogether so that your cat, with all its search abilities, cannot find it by smell. Then he simply will not have any other choice but to do what you have been seeking from him for so long.
If this technique did not give a positive result at the stage of removing the tray, then return it back to the toilet for some more time. If that doesn't work again, then try cutting a hole in the center. Start with a small hole and expand the tray as you use it until only one side remains.
To go to the toilet in an unusual place for him, you can always go back.
