To keep your cat healthy and happy with a playful mood, take care of the right diet for your pet. Domestic cats are capricious creatures and very picky about food. Therefore, you have to adapt to the whims of the animal, but do it wisely. First and foremost, you need to think about the right balance, freshness and nutritional value of any treats for your cat.
Instructions
Step 1
Stick to the diet that the breeder recommended to you when you took the kitten from him. The kitten is taken at the age of 2-3 months, when he stops drinking breast milk and switches to "adult" food. But this transition is carried out in stages, therefore, in a new house, the kitten should receive the usual food, taking into account its age.
Step 2
If the kitten is accustomed to natural food, follow this feeding scheme. As a rule, kittens are cooked with porridge (oatmeal, buckwheat, rice) with the addition of vegetables and meat. Cool the porridge to room temperature before feeding, chop the vegetables and meat. The kitten will need 3-4 teaspoons of porridge at one time. Considering that kittens eat up to 8 times a day, this rate is quite sufficient. At the age of 6 months, feed kittens with fermented milk products: cottage cheese, kefir. But whole cow's milk eventually ceases to be absorbed by the kitten's stomach. If the kitten was weaned early from the mother-cat, give him feline substitute milk in a bowl. It is sold at the pet store and is a powder that is diluted with water.
Step 3
Kittens that are accustomed to industrial food cause less trouble to their owners, because they do not need to specially cook. But first, kittens eat only canned food or a spider, which is easier for them to chew. If you want to supplement their diet with dry food, this should be done gradually. Start adding dry food to one of your daily feeds. Soak it in water before feeding. Be sure to watch the kitten's reaction. He may regurgitate unfamiliar food or have changes in stool. In this case, it is better to cancel acquaintance with "drying".
Step 4
Be alert to any changes in the animals' taste habits. Refusal to eat can be caused by illness, general malaise, a sharp change in temperature. If the cat refuses to eat for more than a day, be sure to show it to the veterinarian. A decrease in appetite against the background of good health and mood may indicate that the pet is simply tired of the monotonous diet. If your cat eats dry food, feed the cat with wet food 2-3 times a week. It so happens that a certain dry food gets bored, so you need to change either the manufacturer or the composition of the food.
Step 5
If your cat eats natural food, try to keep it varied. For example, today a pet has buckwheat porridge with beef, carrots and broccoli for breakfast and lunch, and cottage cheese or meat broth for dinner. the next day, feed the animal with boiled chicken with oatmeal and zucchini. And for dinner, you can give slices of raw chicken breast as a treat.
