Urolithiasis is the most common disease of cats and cats, if left untreated, it can lead to kidney failure and even death of the animal. Diet is very important for the treatment and prevention; you need to feed a cat with urolithiasis with specially prepared dishes, many products are prohibited or undesirable.
It is necessary
- - healthy foods;
- - vitamins.
Instructions
Step 1
Try to avoid dry food. It is they who, in the overwhelming majority of cases, cause the onset of the disease, and the transition from one to another (called "curative") will not benefit the cat, but will only help to adapt to the disease (which, of course, is not an option).
Step 2
If you do give special medicated food for cats with urolithiasis, do not mix it with natural products and make sure that water is always freely available.
Step 3
Do not give your cat food from your table, especially fatty, smoked, salty, sweet, dishes with onions, spices, and garlic. Cook especially for the cat - cook vegetables with meat (60 - 70% meat or minced meat, 20 - 30% vegetables and 10% cereals). Please note that not all vegetables are suitable; only cabbage, carrots, zucchini, pumpkin and green beans can be called optimal for health.
Step 4
Cook immediately for 2 to 3 days and refrigerate. Warm up to room temperature before giving to the cat.
Step 5
Sometimes feed your cat natural (raw) food: meat (except for fatty pork), chicken, hearts. Give liver from time to time. Divide all of these foods into portions and store in the freezer, defrosting one portion each time. Scald the meat with boiling water and check the cat for worms once a month.
Step 6
Avoid giving your cat food with bones (especially raw meat and fish) to avoid internal injury.
Step 7
Do not forget to give your cat fermented milk products - kefir, cottage cheese. If your cat loves milk and tolerates it well, spoil him with a saucer of milk from time to time.
Step 8
With urolithiasis, completely exclude fish and all seafood (squid, shrimp, etc.) from the diet.
Step 9
If your cat doesn't eat the food you cooked, don't worry. Cats are predators and a hunger strike during the day will only benefit them (but not more than two days). Put healthy food in the designated feeding area and do not listen to outraged yells.
Step 10
Be sure to give your cat vitamins, as it is difficult to get a full complex from natural food. Cats need vitamin A, calcium, the amino acids taurine and arginine. Find a special vitamin complex for cats with urolithiasis.
