A poodle with a model haircut cannot but evoke affection and admiration. Many believe that the owners cut these dogs solely for the sake of beauty and to maintain traditions. However, this is not quite true. A poodle needs such a haircut primarily for hygienic purposes. If you want to have a poodle, be prepared to spend a lot of time and money on caring for it. Costs can be reduced by learning how to trim your poodle to keep it in good condition between hairdresser visits.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your dog for grooming, i.e. redeem, dry and comb. You need to comb the poodle twice. Once before bathing, the second time after bathing. Dry from roots to ends, starting from the places where the hair is the shortest. When drying, brush the dog against the coat to avoid the formation of curls, which are difficult to deal with when clipping.
Step 2
Prepare your workplace. This table should be the height you want. A rubber mat should be securely attached to the table surface to prevent the dog's paws from slipping. This refers to security measures. If the dog slips, you can seriously injure him with the scissors.
Step 3
Prepare all the necessary tools: two pairs of scissors (one short, with rounded ends, the other long, pointed, straight), a brush, a metal comb with teeth, and a hair clipper with several attachments.
Step 4
Preparatory haircut. This is a hygienic haircut for the face, abdomen, base of the tail, genitals and tips of the paws. For these purposes, use a machine with a 1mm attachment.
Step 5
Start at the muzzle. Cut the hair on the face, between the eyes, then in the area between the outer corner of the eye and the ear, passing from the ear to the sternum, and from the sternum gradually to the second ear and from the ear to the outer corner of the second eye. Thus, you describe a kind of triangle, moving from one ear to the other.
Step 6
Pay attention to the length of your dog's neck. If the neck is short, the chest hair can be trimmed down so that the lowest point is on the brisket. This will visually lengthen your pet's neck. If the neck is long enough, then the triangle on it may end 2-3 cm above the sternum.
Step 7
Trim the hair at and between your fingertips. Use the narrow nozzle to trim the fur between your toes. Cut the back side of the foot from the heel up 1 cm.
Step 8
Move on to the tail. Trim the hair at the base of the tail and in the genital area, gradually transitioning to the croup. Try to keep the shape of the triangle
Step 9
Turn the dog over on its back and start trimming the fur from the belly. Here, the coat is fine and fluffy, and the skin is very delicate, so be very careful.
Step 10
Continental haircut. Trim the top and bottom of the muzzle short as in a prep cut. Trim the hair from the front paws, leaving only the cuffs (balls) at the bottom. Expose the back of the dog to the hips. The tail should also be cut short, leave a pompom at the tip. Tie the hair on the parietal part of the head into a bun, forming the so-called "upper forelock".
Step 11
Haircut "Pappy clip". Cut the muzzle of your pet shortly, and simply shorten the fur on the body. The coat should be trimmed so that the outline of the dog's body is emphasized. Should clearly highlight the chest, waist, bends of the joints of the hind legs. Be sure to trim the tips of the paws, the base of the tail, and the genital area. These areas should be trimmed with any haircut pattern. The border between cropped feet and pants should be clear. Shape the hair into a neat beanie. Professionals call this hat a helmet.
Step 12
Haircut "Scandinavian lion". Cut the muzzle, paws and tail as in a prep cut. Cut the back of the body to the ribs, hind legs and front legs shortly, but not bald. Cut the front of the body and chest so that the coat is longer than on the back of the body, forming a kind of vest. On the head, you need to leave a rather lush, evenly cropped hat, merging with the ears, as a result of which a lion's mane is obtained.
