Instructions
Step 1
There are several types of terrariums. So, dry ones are suitable for keeping land turtles, snakes or geckos. Aquatic terrariums are made for amphibians and water turtles.
Step 2
The terrarium must be thoroughly rinsed and dried before installation. After that, a layer of soil is placed on the bottom. Depending on the type of animal, it can be sand or pebbles.
Step 3
In addition to the soil, it is good to use sphagnum moss. It is not only an excellent substrate, but also perfectly absorbs and retains moisture, helping to maintain an optimal microclimate in the terrarium.
Step 4
If you plan to plant plants in the terrarium, then you need to select those species that your pet will not eat. Plants must also be non-poisonous.
Step 5
In the terrarium, it is necessary to establish a shelter in which the pet can rest. You can buy shelters at the pet store or make your own from half a clay pot.
Step 6
Smooth stones and driftwood can also be installed on the bottom, on which your pet will be happy to climb.
Step 7
Many species of amphibians and reptiles require additional heating, so be sure to buy a special lamp. If its light and heat is not enough, then you can install a special mini-heater for terrariums.
Step 8
Place feeders and drinkers at the bottom for your pet to eat comfortably.
Step 9
If you are making an aqua terrarium, then only the part that protrudes above the ground should be covered with soil. A lamp must be installed above it so that the animal can bask.
