Spring begins a hot season not only for farmers, but also for livestock breeders. They need to take care of preparing livestock feed for the winter. But at the same time, cows can already be grazed on the green lush grass. The cost of keeping livestock is significantly reduced. Usually, in small villages and villages, the owners of cows and sheep graze the flock in turn.
Instructions
Step 1
For livestock grazing, there are also rules and traditions that must be followed. A young cow must be accustomed to pasture. Do this gradually, starting with 2-3 hours a day. In about a week, bring your cattle grazing time to 14-16 hours.
Step 2
Make sure that the cow or calf does not eat too much grass after rain or dew. This can cause swelling of the scar, and this is fraught with serious illness for the animal.
Step 3
Observe the cow's grazing regime. This leads to a good mood of the animal and a large milk yield. Morning milking should take place at 5-6 in the morning, lunchtime at 13-14, and evening milking at 21-22 in the evening.
Step 4
Consider the length of the road to the pasture as well. The maximum distance to it should be 2, 5-3 kilometers. If the pasture is located further, the animal will get tired and milk yield will decrease.
Step 5
Make sure there is clean water near the grass. That is, there should be a pond, river or lake nearby. If there is no water nearby, arrange to bring it to the pasture at a certain time.
Step 6
You can tie up livestock near your home if there is a large lawn nearby. Drive a metal hook deep into the ground and find a long enough rope. Change the position of the harness 2-3 times a day so that the cow is provided with fresh grass.
Step 7
If this is your first time bringing cattle to a common herd, get a certificate from your veterinarian that the animal is healthy. Cut the horns to avoid injuring other cows.
Step 8
Make sure that the cattle do not wander into the forest and into the ravine. There is a high probability that the animal will become entangled in branches and bushes and will not be able to get out. There is also a danger of attack by wild animals.
Step 9
Be careful with the mother cow, sometimes she is too protective of the calf and may attack other animals or people if she feels threatened by her calf. Do not shout or make sudden movements, talk to your pets affectionately.
