The squirrel is a funny, cheerful animal, familiar from childhood to every inhabitant of central Russia. You can meet these small rodents in forests and parks, and recently it has become popular to keep squirrels at home. And, of course, the animal contained in the cage needs good nutrition.

Step 1
If a squirrel fell into your hands, know that they feed on mother's milk for up to two months. When the mother squirrel leaves the nest, she wraps the squirrels in a warm soft lining. Therefore, an attempt to feed a baby from a nipple can be crowned with success only if you remember to wrap the squirrel so that it is warm. A woolen scarf or downy shawl wrapped in an envelope is suitable as such a children's shelter. At this time, the squirrels should be fed with cow's milk diluted with water with added sugar.
Step 2
Include rice and millet porridge in the diet of matured proteins. Remember that protein is still a herbivore, and excess protein is simply harmful for it. After the squirrel is six weeks old, you can give him buds of deciduous trees, young spruce twigs, seeds of oats, flax, hemp, vegetables, fruits, nuts.
Step 3
When the young squirrel is eight weeks old, start giving it cheese and cottage cheese. After the tenth week, include mealworms and mushrooms in your diet. After a few more weeks, feed your pet eggs, lean beef, and frozen fish.
Step 4
An adult squirrel needs to be fed twice a day - morning and evening. At the same time, remember that in no case should you overfeed the animal - this reduces its activity. The daily food intake for protein should be 45 grams. Her diet may include pine nuts, walnuts and hazelnuts, lettuce, cabbage, celery and carrot shoots, zucchini and cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes and potatoes. With pleasure, the animal will eat berries such as raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries. Protein will also be grateful for cereals (not sprouted).
Step 5
If you want to feed the animal you meet in the park, in no case offer chips or chocolate to the squirrel. Perhaps she will take a treat from you, but there will be little benefit from it. It will be better if you go to the store before going to the park and buy white crackers or a package of sunflower seeds. Squirrels will appreciate your generosity.
