Dogs, especially small dogs, puppies and smooth-haired breeds, need shoes for walking, exhibitions, even for home; so as not to get cold, not to get your paws dirty, not to get hurt, and just to look extravagant. The trouble is that many continue to consider clothes and shoes for pets not a necessity, but a whim of the owners, a luxury. This creates a high price level for this kind of goods. But you can sew your dog's shoes yourself.

It is necessary

a piece of dense but soft fabric (bike, cotton), a felt insole (these are sold in shoe stores, workshops and even in some kiosks), a piece of leather (artificial) or rubberized fabric

Instructions

Step 1

Measure your dog. Place her paw on a piece of paper and press lightly from above, draw a circle around the paw with claws, almost closely. The front feet are usually slightly larger than the rear feet, so take measurements from both pairs of feet. The diameter of the sole will be cut with a margin for allowances. Next, measure the height from the floor to the wrist, the height from the floor to the top of the intended product, and the thickness of the paw at its widest point.

Step 2

Now get into the patterns. The sole is almost cut out, step back from the diameter of the paw half a centimeter outward and cut a circle for the rear and for the front paw. For the bootleg, draw a rectangle whose length is equal to the height of the shoe (we also make a margin of 1-2 cm) and the width is the diameter of the paw at the widest point. Be sure to make notes to indicate where the wrist and hock are.

Step 3

Cut out the patterns and transfer them to the fabric, secure with sewing pins or needles, and then cut the fabric out. Make the patterns of the sole additionally from leather or rubber and from felt.

Step 4

A wide elastic band is suitable for securing the shoe on the dog's paw. At the level of the wrist and just above the hock, make small slits so that you can thread the elastic through them with the drawstring.

Step 5

Prepare the soles - sew leather or rubber, felt and base fabric together. Now you can sew on the bootleg in the sole, you can leave the seam outside and process it with PVC glue or glue it with a rubber tape (for waterproofness on street walks), or you can simply decorate it - sew it with deliberately coarse stitches with colored thread. If you hide the seam inside, it is better to sew it to the bootleg so that the claws do not cling to the roller on the sole.

Step 6

To keep the shoes better, you can make bindings that will be a continuation of the elastic lace from the upper drawstring - they will connect through the back. You can decorate with a thin fabric ribbon or braid, only short, so that the dog does not notice it, otherwise it will quickly untie.
