As a rule, cat breeders sell or donate kittens that are already litter-trained. But what about residents of private houses if there is no desire to spend money on filler and time for cleaning it? After all, all decent country cats do their business on the street, it is convenient and natural. There are several ways to train your furry pet to ask outside and relieve themselves in the fresh air.
Training your cat outdoors with a litter box
If the tray is in a secluded place away from the exit from the house, start gradually moving it closer to the door. Just move it 2-3 meters every few days. The kitten will find the litter box in a new location based on the smell.
The fluffy tomboy is too used to the place, can't find his toilet and leave puddles on the floor? Pay special attention to him, watch him. As soon as the kitten comes running to the place of the former toilet in order to spill the next puddle, it will begin to rake up invisible filler with its paw, immediately pick it up and take it to the tray in a new place. Be patient and show him the new location of the tray over and over again. After a few days, your mustachioed pet will get used to the fact that the tray has the ability to move imperceptibly and will learn to find it on its own.
When the tray reaches the front door, feel free to put it outside the threshold. As soon as the baby starts looking for the missing toilet, open the door and let him out. The cat will have no choice: either he will do his business in the tray, or he will find a good pile of land for this purpose.
Some time after these manipulations, the pet will appreciate all the charm of an outdoor toilet, a variety of places for digging in the ground and independence from the owners and the cleanliness of the tray. He will start asking to go outside himself, giving voice at the threshold and sharpening his claws on the door frame.
This is the most effective method, but it takes a long time to implement. There are faster options for training a kitten to go to the toilet outside. But they will require more attention from the owners to the pet. Ideally, during training, one of the owners should constantly be at home and watch the cat.
Other ways to teach your cat to use the toilet outside
As soon as the kitten begins to look for a dark corner and show by its behavior that it needs to go to the toilet, you need to take it outside. For a long time, the baby will not stand and still do his business in the fresh air. You need to watch him and repeat these actions daily until he gets used to the fact that there is no litter box in the house and only a lawn near the house is at his disposal.
Another way to toilet train your cat outside is to walk it every time you eat. As soon as he eats, go out with him and walk in the bosom of nature. The kid will frolic, run on the grass and find a good pile of sand for need. A few days later, the furry pet will develop a reflex immediately after eating to go for a walk and do their business there.
