Dogs have been serving people for many centuries, moreover, representatives of different breeds can be useful in different areas. They help hunt and graze livestock, save people and protect them, guard property and simply make their owners happier. Despite the fact that there are other, no less useful pets, it is a dog that is usually called a friend of a person.
Dogs perform some functions that other pets cannot. As a rule, each dog to one degree or another can be considered a companion, although there are breeds that directly belong to this category and correspond to it more than others. Dogs are often characterized by such qualities as loyalty, willingness to help and protect, the ability to withstand a lot for the sake of a beloved owner. It is these animals that have those amazing abilities that some people would like to see in their friends. It is about the ability to sincerely love and wait, to understand perfectly, to be there in difficult times. The dog will not betray or lie, like a real friend.
It is interesting that the very presence of these animals can have a beneficial effect on the well-being of people and on their psyche. Thanks to the results of many studies conducted by scientists, it was possible to establish that dog owners are less likely to suffer from heart disease, and if they do have heart attacks, then the rehabilitation period is relatively short. People who live with their owners from loneliness, and therefore some dog owners who live alone for one reason or another, do not feel unhappy, because their friend is always there.
In civilized countries, it is often customary to humanize dogs. Some famous thinkers have noticed that it is these animals that deserve to become true friends of man, since they are not characterized by deceit and the desire for lies. Frederick the Great also argued that over the long centuries of friendship, the dog adopted the best qualities of a person, but at the same time never made human mistakes. In part, it is the desire to humanize these animals and the desire to ascribe only positive qualities to them that have become the reason that the dog is not only called a friend of man, but sometimes even put above him as a more honest and sincere creature.
