Any ready-made container can be used as a drinker for rabbits: an iron or plastic bowl, plate, etc. The behavior of rodents is such that they often spill water and clog it with grass litter and food. Therefore, any drinker must be securely attached either to the walls of the cage or to its floor. But this must be done so that the container can be easily removed, washed and water changed in it.

It is necessary

  • - plastic bottle
  • - dropper
  • - heat insulator
  • - apparatus with a heating regulator
  • - scotch tape

Instructions

Step 1

A simple and easy-to-use drinker is made from a large plastic bottle. A hollow metal tube of a suitable section is inserted into the cork, through which water is supplied. A rectangular hole is cut out at the bottom of the bottle so that the animal's muzzle can fit in it.

Step 2

No more than 8-10 cm recede from the bottom, such a volume of the resulting glass will be enough so that the animal does not feel thirst between the turns of the water supply. The liquid should flow from the top through the tube, filling the space at the bottom. The drinker must be secured against one of the walls of the cage with a wire.

Step 3

If the animals are kept in a poorly insulated enclosure, the water must be heated in winter. Since this process is difficult to ensure in every drinker, a pipeline is built through which warm liquid is supplied from a common tank. Thin rubber hoses and droppers can be used as pipes.

Step 4

The entire highway must be well insulated. To do this, it is recommended to take Izolon 4 mm thick, cut it into strips of the required width, wrap the tubes with them and fix the heat insulator with tape or electrical tape. For automatic water heating, you can use a heater with a thermostat (such devices are installed in aquariums).

Step 5

A simple but easy-to-maintain drinker made from a can and a mug. The edges of the jar are processed so that the animal does not get hurt about them. Two holes are made in the tin wall through which the wire is threaded. Then the jar is attached to the wall of the cage. A mug of water is placed in this container, which is removed and washed as necessary.

Step 6

You can also use this option: fix a plastic bottle above the tin can so that its neck does not reach the bottom of the tin container by 1-2 mm. You need to cut off the bottom of the bottle and pour water into it. As the animals drink liquid from the can, it will be refilled from the bottle.

Step 7

If a container with water is on the floor of the cage, the animal itself will understand what this equipment is intended for. The rabbits need to be trained to a drinker mounted on the wall of the cage. To do this, their attention is attracted by tapping on the edge of the cage or talking. Then you need to dip your finger into a container of water and let each animal smell it. If you moisten the face of a rabbit with a drop of water, he will quickly understand the purpose of the container on the wall of the cage. By doing this several times, you will soon train your animals to drink water from a self-made drinker.
