Domestic rabbits are one of the most popular pets. These animals are quickly tamed, become affectionate and cause affection for the owners and guests. In the warm season, many people prefer to walk their pets outside. If you plan to take your rabbit out for walks, you will need a harness.
Instructions
Step 1
Responsibly treat the purchase of a harness. After all, a rabbit is a rather cowardly animal. If on the street he is frightened by a sharp sound, scream, exhaust from a car, a dog or a cat, he may start running in hysterics. In this case, it is necessary that he does not slip out of the harness and strangle himself.
Step 2
A good bunny harness around the neck should not be tightened like a stranglehold, but should be fastened with a buckle. The jumper on the back should form the letter "H" if you look at the animal from the side. Harnesses of such designs are especially for rabbits. Small harnesses for cats and dogs are also suitable.
Step 3
There are also special walking costumes. They look like a T-shirt with a leash attached in the lumbar region. Such harnesses are good because, in case of danger, you can lift the rabbit by the leash without causing any harm to it.
Step 4
A typical harness consists of two open rings. Take the rabbit in your arms. A smaller ring, like a leash, put the animal around the neck and fasten. Check how the harness sits on the animal: it should not be too tight. To do this, stick your finger between the collar and the rabbit's neck - if it passes, then the harness is fastened correctly. At the same time, the harness should not dangle so that the rabbit cannot slip out of it.
Step 5
Pass the second strap under the bunny's tummy and close it. Do not overtighten the harness, but also check that it does not dangle on the animal. Make sure the ring that the leash carabiner attaches to is on top of the animal's back.
Step 6
Do not take your rabbit outside immediately. Let the animal get used to the uniform. Put on the harness at home for several days in a row, gradually increasing the time that the rabbit spends in it. After the animal gets used to it, you can take it outside.
