Turtles are often kept in the apartment as pets. To keep aquatic turtles, you need an aquaterrarium made of glass, plexiglass or plastic. So that the pet does not get sick, the water in it must be changed periodically.
It is necessary
- - a bucket or other container;
- - baking soda;
- - brush.
Instructions
Step 1
The water in the turtle tank should be changed 1-2 times a week. If the container is equipped with a filter, this can be done less frequently, as the water will stay clean longer. Without a filter and a change of water, the liquid quickly becomes dirty and blooms, in such conditions the animal will get sick more often.
Step 2
Remove the turtle from the aquarium and place it in a bowl, deep plate or bucket during the water change that it cannot get out of. Be careful not to drop your pet, and be aware that it may scratch or bite you as it tries to get out of your hands. Set the bucket aside in a safe place.
Step 3
Drain the aquarium and remove all accessories. Clean the inside without using chemicals. You can rub the terrarium with ordinary baking soda, but after that you must thoroughly rinse the powder off the walls. Fill a container with water several times and pour it out.
Step 4
Wash stones, driftwood and everything in the aquaterrarium with your hands. No soil is required when keeping aquatic turtles. Disassemble the filter and rinse it. Assemble back and fasten tightly in place.
Step 5
Place the accessories back in the aquarium and pour warm filtered water into it. If you put your turtle in cold water, it can get sick. The optimum water temperature is 20-26 ° C.
Step 6
Examine the turtle itself, brush the shell with a brush (you can use a toothbrush). Return the pet to the aquarium. You can immediately start it to swim, or you can put it on the island and wait for it to crawl into clean warm water by itself.
