Mini aquariums are an attractive interior decoration. But unlike large containers equipped with all the necessary equipment, there are some problems with care. If you adhere to the basic rules, including the replacement of water, you can avoid the flowering of the aquarium and create quite tolerable living conditions for the fish.

Step 1
It is believed that a small aquarium is easier to maintain than a large one. However, this is the first misconception of inexperienced aquarists. It requires more frequent water changes, since decomposition products of fish waste products accumulate here most of all. Plus, vigorous plant growth can be a lot of hassle.
Step 2
The water in a small aquarium should not be completely changed. It is enough to replace up to 1/5 of the total volume. This should be done quite often - once every 3-4 days.
Step 3
The replacement water should only be soft, at room temperature, so you should have a constant supply. Only use a clean container for tap water that should only be used for this purpose. It is necessary to settle the liquid for at least three days.
Step 4
Replacing water in a small aquarium is not difficult. Calculate the required replacement quantity. For example, in an aquarium with a capacity of 10 liters, you need to change 2 liters (1/5 of the total volume).
Step 5
With a special ladle with a long handle, scoop up the required amount of water. Scrub the sides of the aquarium and add fresh, soft water. Then put water in a clean bowl and leave it to stand until the next procedure.
Step 6
Water in mini aquariums evaporates very quickly. Check its level regularly and top up if necessary.
Step 7
It is necessary to completely change the water in the aquarium as rarely as possible, since this disturbs the biological balance. However, this should be done once a year to repot the plants and clean the tank walls and filter.
Step 8
To replace the water completely, take out the fish and place them in the jar for a while. Drain the fluid with a hose. Remove excess algae. Clean the rocks and walls of the aquarium.
Step 9
Then pour in the settled water. Add bacteria and let the aquarium sit for a couple of days, then run the fish into it.
