The health and life of the fish living there depends on how often the water in the aquarium changes. It is important to take into account whether we are talking about a new aquarium or about "housing" in which the fish have been for a long time.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember that frequent changes in the water in the aquarium will lead to disease and fish death. This is precisely the mistake many beginners make: fresh water does not become an ideal option at all, and all efforts to replace it can lead to undesirable results.
Step 2
Do not change the water in a new aquarium for at least two months. When water is first poured into the container and fish are launched there, the habitat is too unstable. If the aquarium is large, frequent fluid changes will make it harder for your "pets" to adapt to new conditions, and their development process will slow down. If the capacity is small, such a mistake can lead to the death of all its inhabitants. Carefully monitor the state of the aquatic environment - if it is healthy, then the fish will be able to live comfortably. If problems arise, it will affect all the inhabitants of the aquarium.
Step 3
When 2-3 months have passed after using your new aquarium, start changing the water a little at a time. It is allowed to replace no more than 20% of the total volume of the liquid, moreover, this can be done no more often than once every two weeks. The best option is to replace 15% of the water volume once a month. However, if you have the opportunity, add 10% pure liquid every 1, 5 weeks. Each time you perform this procedure, it is necessary to collect the debris that has accumulated on the ground and thoroughly clean the glass.
Step 4
Change the water topping regime again after 3-4 months. The fact is that six months after the start of using a new aquarium, the aquatic environment is completely stabilized, and a period of the highest level of comfort begins for the fish. Now it will be enough to change 20% of the liquid volume once a month. At this stage, your task is not to spoil the established biological balance.
Step 5
Renew the aquatic environment one year after filling the aquarium. Within two months, it will be necessary to replace 20% of the water volume 4-5 times, and each time it is necessary to flush part of the soil. As a result, after 2 months, all glass and other elements of the aquarium should be completely cleaned. When you are done with this procedure, you can change again 20% of the water once a month with minimal "cleaning" of the soil. After a year, cleaning will have to be repeated again.
Step 6
Change the water in the aquarium completely only in the most difficult situations, when it is impossible to restore a normal habitat for fish. We are talking about cases when the water “blooms” strongly, becomes too cloudy, mucus appears on the surfaces, or when dangerous microorganisms that kill fish appear in the water.
