The only food for a puppy under three weeks old is mother's breast milk, which provides a balanced set of proteins, fats, vitamins and carbohydrates. It is recommended to start giving groundbait in the form of peas from beef and cottage cheese only after three weeks of age. The amount of food should be gradually increased, and the dose should not exceed several pieces per day.
Step 2
Usually weaning from the mother is carried out at 32-35 days of life, but the connection should be maintained further: to ensure the correct functioning of the immune system. In no case should you overfeed Chihuahua puppies, since excess fat can deform the developing skeletal system. Sufficiency of food can be determined by feeling the puppy's ribs. If they contain a small amount of fat, then the dose of feed should be slightly and gradually increased. If, on the contrary, the ribs are hidden by fat, but palpable enough freely, then the puppy's nutrition is selected optimally.

Until the age of two months, Chihuahua puppies are fed about 6 times a day, then the number of feedings is gradually reduced to 5 times over the next two months, then to 4 - from 4 to 6 months, and so on until the age of one year. Many owners of such dogs often think about which food is better - dry, ready-made, or natural. On the one hand, ready-made food is always balanced in terms of calorie content, rich in vitamins and microelements, which fully meets the requirements of the dog according to its age. But it should always be remembered that natural food contains nutrients that are much better absorbed by the dog's body. Therefore, it is better to combine.

From natural and natural products, puppies are usually given beef meat in the form of minced meat, previously treated with boiling water for several minutes. But pork is completely excluded from the Chihuahua diet due to its excessive fat content. These cute creatures also love seafood. A Chihuahua puppy can be given sea fish, also in the form of minced meat. Pollock is contraindicated, which is not assimilated by the body, as well as fatty fish species.
