The Caucasian Shepherd Dog is a solid dog. And you need to feed a Caucasian puppy thoroughly, so that it grows strong and healthy. But at the same time, when buying a puppy, it is not at all necessary to look after a bowl the size of a good bowl for him. Caucasian Shepherd Dogs are distinguished by excellent digestion, so they need less food than other large dogs.
Instructions
Step 1
After purchasing a puppy, do not rush to transfer it to a diet that is very different from that which he received from the breeder. If the puppy is immediately transferred to a new food, he may develop zonite.
Step 2
Do not offer the puppy only dry food, combine such food with natural food in the diet.
Step 3
A small puppy should be given food (at 1, 5-2 months) 6 times a day, gradually reducing the number of feedings and increasing portions. By the age of 8 months, the puppy can be switched to the diet of an adult dog - 2 times a day. If your puppy cannot (or does not want to) feed as often, feed him less often, while maintaining a full daily diet.
Step 4
Vegetable food (cereals, vegetables) should make up no more than 30% of the diet of a small Caucasian. Porridge must be boiled well so that the food is properly absorbed. Cook porridge with meat or good broth. Indeed, for growth and development, a puppy needs a high-calorie protein diet (meat, eggs, cottage cheese, sea fish). Up to 3 months, the dog is fed only boiled minced meat.
Step 5
Do not teach your puppy to an egg-curd diet, do not save on buying meat. First, the dog needs to get enough amino acids for physical and mental development. Secondly, from excessive consumption of eggs, the puppy may develop allergies, and the coat, the pride of the Caucasian, will become less thick.
Step 6
Since Caucasians gain height and weight very quickly, they need a well-balanced diet, not only in terms of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, but also vitamins and minerals. Feed your puppies soft spongy bones, cartilage, fish bones rolled through a meat grinder. The fish should be fatty, since it is in such fish that the necessary minerals are contained to prevent rickets. Some breeders recommend feeding a Caucasian Shepherd puppy with a rumen, since the rumen walls already contain all the necessary trace elements and vitamins.
Step 7
Vitamins and minerals sold in veterinary pharmacies should not be ignored either. When buying these supplements, make sure they contain about 1.5-2 times more calcium than phosphorus.
