Place the hamster's cage nearby, cover it with a thick cloth and constantly talk to the animal in a quiet, calm voice. Being deprived of the usual stimulants and irritants, the animal will actively respond to what is only available to it - your voice.
Step 2
When you realize that your hamster is used to his voice and trusts him, try treating him with some kind of treat (a piece of apple, pear, nut, etc.). The hamster needs a house in which he can hide if he gets scared. You can make your own home from a cardboard box or from a flower pot. For the animal, the main thing is the presence of a closed space hidden from prying eyes. Otherwise, he may die from stress.
Step 3
After a couple of days, replace the dense fabric with a light, translucent, translucent fabric. Continue talking to your pet for the next few days. This time, he will see the outline of a hand holding out a treat.
Step 4
After five days, remove the tissue from the cage. Let the animal see you in daylight. If he suddenly gets scared and hides, leave the room for a while to give him a chance to get comfortable. Then reappear in his field of vision.
Step 5
Give the rodent a chance to explore the lighted housing. This can take from one to four days. As soon as you realize that he is a little more comfortable, open the cage and try to take him. To do this, put your hand on the bottom of the cage, palm up, do not make sudden movements. Of course, the rodent will not immediately climb onto the hand. For some time he will stay away, and if he gets scared, he may even bite. But this aggressive behavior is rare. For greater efficiency, you can put some tasty treat on your hand - raisins, dried apricots, an apple or a nut. At first, the animal will get used to the close proximity of the hand. Having realized that you can profit, he will definitely take the chance. The first few times the hamster will abruptly snatch the treat and run for cover. Over time, he will understand that there is no danger and will learn to trust you. After a couple of weeks, the animal will independently climb into the palm of your hand with pleasure.
Step 6
When first picking up your hamster, do not lift it too high above the floor. Otherwise, the animal may get scared and start desperately to escape. Falling from a height often results in serious injury.
