Domestic cats very often suffer from a variety of diseases. Before visiting a veterinarian, you can recognize some ailments on your own and try to make life easier for the animal. Worms or helminths are parasites that are common in cats. There are a number of signs by which you can determine that an animal is infected with parasites.
Instructions
Step 1
In small kittens, worms appear very often. Try to take this possibility seriously, because parasites from animals can be transmitted to humans. Small children are a special risk group. Therefore, try to closely observe the kitten, recording changes in its behavior.
Step 2
If possible, at the first sign of inadequate graying of the animal, visit your veterinarian. In the clinic, he will be given all the necessary tests, and you will know for sure whether he is infected or not. If there are indeed parasites, then the doctor will immediately prescribe the appropriate treatment.
Step 3
Careful observation of its behavior will allow to suspect the appearance of worms in a kitten. Look to see if certain oddities have appeared in regular everyday games. Perhaps he began to bite out the root of the tail or actively roll backwards on the floor. These actions may indicate a helminth infection.
Step 4
Examine the kitten. If the animal's anus is severely irritated, and at the same time pus is constantly flowing from the eyes, then there is a reason to suspect something was wrong. There is also a reason to take a closer look at the animal's feces: often worms come out together with vomit or feces. In a sick cat, feces may come out with blood.
Step 5
Pay attention to how the kitten eats and whether he is getting better at the same time. Depletion of the animal with a very good appetite can be a sign of the presence of parasites. In this case, the cat's belly may look quite swollen, and when palpating it, it will be clear from the kitten's reaction that he is in pain.
Step 6
Even if you did not find any signs of infection of the kitten, still be sure to give him an anthelmintic drug for prevention. Remember that for a small kitten, the appearance of worms is a serious illness that can even be fatal.
