To expand the apiary, beekeepers form layering in separate hives, hulls or loungers. The mother plant should be placed in the hive within a few hours after deposition. Also, sometimes the beekeepers put the "queen" herself in the layering. The answer to the question of how to breed queens in an apiary on your own is not too difficult. This procedure takes about 12 days.
Instructions
Step 1
3-4 days before the desired start date for hatching, find the queen in the strongest family in the apiary. As you know, this is the largest bee in the hive. Its brood will be noticeable nearby. Place a frame with a light brown honeycomb dipped in syrup next to it. Mark it with some sign.
Step 2
Check the frame daily to ensure you don't miss the start of seeding. Feed the bees all this time with honey-bee bread and honey. As soon as the larvae begin to hatch in the comb, transplant the queen into a temporary layer. Along with it, install two frames with brood in the hive.
Step 3
How to breed queens in a parent hive? In the selected family, left without a “queen,” in a frame with hatching larvae, carefully cut a piece of honeycomb along the cells in a horizontal direction. The height of the resulting gap should ultimately be 5-6 cm.
Step 4
Make the upper cut along the row above which the largest number of larvae will be seen. In this case, a wire soldered into a honeycomb should be located 2-3 rows higher. In this case, it will be more convenient to remove the mother liquors later.
Step 5
Thin the larvae in the top row of cells using a thin stick. When performing this operation, leave one piece after two. Repeat the above procedure with one more honeycomb.
Step 6
Place the honeycomb prepared in this way in the middle of the nest. Reduce the latter a little. Also, the parent hive needs to be well insulated. Make sure that the family has enough honey and bee bread. Feed the bees vigorously throughout the week. After a while, orphaned insects will lay queen cells, which will hang down into the lumen.
Step 7
On the 10th day, the hatching of the queen bees will be almost complete. At this time, cut out the mother liquors and place them in the layers, which should already be formed by this time. They can also be placed in the cages between brood frames for bees warming. Return the deposited uterus back to the family.
Step 8
As you can see, the answer to the question of how to breed queens is simple. Place the queen cell in the layer in the evening of the same day or the next day after the bees are deposited. During this time, all the old insects will fly away to their hives. Only peaceful young people will remain in the layers. As a result, the chances that the family will accept the artificially implanted uterus will be greater.
Step 9
Keep in mind that the development of the queen bee in the queen cell in a new colony should take some time. This is necessary so that the remains of old bees leave the layers, and young insects have time to settle in a new place. The exit of the "queen" usually takes place on the 17th day.
Step 10
Do not delay the transfer of mother liquors after layering. After 3-4 days, the bees in the new hive will lay their own queen cells. And it will be useless to delete them. Insects will kill the planted queens and still begin to hatch their own in a new way, which may turn out to be of poor quality.
