Many have cats at home. Communication with them calms, delivers positive emotions and relaxes. You can play with them, talk, in the end they teach responsibility. But games with them are not always safe.
A beloved and docile kitty can sometimes scratch so that by the remaining scars you will remember this game all your life. It is especially scary if the cat scratch site is inflamed and itchy.
Prevention and disinfection measures for cat scratches:
- the first and simplest precaution is to rinse the wound with water, you can even use ordinary tap water;
- if the results of playing with an animal turned out to be deep enough, they need to be treated with disinfectant solutions, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol-based products are perfect for this;
- shallow scratches must be lubricated with a wound healing agent and this procedure must be carried out for several days in a row;
- for several days, you need to very carefully monitor the condition of the scratches, as a rule, the changes will already be clear by 3-4 days.
If the inflammation does not go away, it is necessary to go to the hospital.
If the redness subsides, the scratches are covered with a crust, then it is quite enough to continue to lubricate them with a wound-healing agent.
By neglecting primitive preventive measures, you run the risk of contracting the so-called cat scratch disease. The incubation period of the disease is from 5 to 30 days and can develop without manifesting itself in any way.
The main signs of the disease:
- bubbles form in the place of the scratch, which fill with liquid and burst;
- the place of the scratch is strongly reddened;
- the lymph node closest to the scratch increases;
- there may be an increase in temperature and general weakness.
