Everyone needs a home: they rest, sleep, recuperate, keep warm in winter and cherish freshness on a hot July afternoon. In order for four-legged friends not to huddle under the porch or in the woodshed, it is necessary to build their own dwelling for them. You can buy a ready-made kennel in a specialized store, but it is much more pleasant and more fun to arrange a dog kennel with the whole family.
Instructions
Step 1
Calculate the size of the kennel to suit your dog. Plan the house so that your pet can walk in, lie down, and turn around inside. Calculate the length of the booth equal to the distance from the nose to the tail, the height and depth equal to the height of the dog. For the manhole, consider the width of the chest and the height at the withers of the animal. You can increase the size a little, especially if the pet is still growing, but do not do this for a winter kennel, as a larger volume is more difficult to heat. If there are multiple occupants, plan partitions inside the booth. Draw a sketch or sketch out a plan for the future construction, this will greatly facilitate further work.
Step 2
Assemble the bottom of the house from the blocks and the floorboard. Use a solid slab to keep the floor warmer and prevent dog claws from getting stuck between the planks. Insulate the bottom by covering it on the outside with a layer of roofing material. Nail two long sticks to the base so that there is a gap between the ground and the floor, and attach a second layer of boards. With the help of a double bottom, the heat inside will be retained longer, and excess moisture will not get onto the structure.
Step 3
At the corners of the base and in the middle of the sides, install eight supports (bars) along the height of the future kennel. Sheathe the walls with solid sheets of plywood or nail boards. Insulate the kennel with any suitable material, such as glass wool. Be sure to add an extra layer of insulation to avoid hurting your dog.
Step 4
When designing a roof, be sure to consider the possibility of its removal. This is necessary for cleaning the booth, removing dirt and wool, and can also be useful in case of an animal's illness. Make a roof from bars, slats, lining, or from a single piece of chipboard. Decorate as you wish with natural or false tiles, cover with slate.
Step 5
Paint the kennel. It is not recommended to paint the boards inside. If you are making a winter house, cover the hole with tarpaulin curtains. To make them heavier, sew plastic bags filled with sand or stones along the bottom edge of the fabric. Decorate the entrance to the kennel with an elegant flashlight, then the four-legged friend's booth will not only be functional, but also perfectly decorate the interior of your site!
