Keeping a pet brings the owners not only joy, but also additional worries and troubles. One of the most common problems for cat owners is litter training.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase a litter box for your cat. It should be comfortable and large enough, about 10 to 12 cm high. Place the litter box in a quiet, secluded place that is easily accessible to the cat. Do not put it in walk-through areas, in the kitchen, where the cat eats and sleeps.
Step 2
Fill the tray with cat litter, paper, and newspapers. Sand and earth are not desirable for such purposes, as the cat's wet paws will spread the dirt across the floor. Pet stores offer a wide variety of artificial fillers that absorb moisture and odor. However, make sure that the kitten does not start eating the filler balls. Rinse the tray under running water without using chemicals.
Step 3
Monitor your pet's behavior. When a cat wants to go to the toilet, it starts to behave restlessly, sniffs a suitable place, meows, and scratches the floors with its claws. Immediately take the animal to the litter box, pet and hold until the cat goes to the toilet. After that, praise your pet, pet him, try to explain that she did everything right. Take your cat to the litter box as often as possible the first time after sleeping or eating.
Step 4
Soak a piece of paper in your cat's urine if it came off in an unwanted place, and toss it into the litter box to soak up the scent. Also place animal solid waste in the tray. Then bring the cat to the litter box and let her sniff it. After that, thoroughly wash the area where the cat went to the toilet. Spray the floor with a special odor remover and wipe with vinegar.
Step 5
Be patient, litter training can take several weeks. Never hit the cat, do not yell at it, so that the animal does not have a desire to empty in the wrong places to spite you. But if within a month and a half the kitten has not learned to go to the toilet in the litter box, try to find the reasons. Perhaps the animal does not like the filler or the place for the toilet is uncomfortable.
