After you've bought your rabbit, give it time to look around at its new location. After that, the most crucial period begins for you: the upbringing and taming of your new family member. Due to the fact that rabbits are by nature extremely shy, your main task is to accustom the rabbit to your presence so that it does not fear and does not run away from you. Using the following tips, you can greatly facilitate the process of raising a pet.
Instructions
Step 1
Often, the owners of rabbits complain that suddenly their absolutely calm and tame pet begins to show aggression towards their owners: it bites, pushes off with its paws. This behavior is caused by puberty for your pet. Aggression subsequently fades away, but in some cases it may remain.
Step 2
It is important to remember that if you do not even occasionally deal with the rabbit, devote at least half an hour a day to it, then soon your pet will lose interest in life and all your attempts to improve will either not react at all or behave aggressively.
Step 3
Usually, rabbits quickly get used to a new owner. The main thing is that the taming process should be as gradual as possible. After about a week, with gentle handling, your pet will become completely tame.
Step 4
Rabbits are silent creatures. The maximum that can be heard from them is either a quiet "kurlykan" or a specific sound of a meeting between a male and a female. But it happens that, due to severe fright or pain, the rabbits begin to scream shrilly. Therefore, if you hear this sound after picking up the pet, it is best to put the pet back in the cage and do not touch it for a while. If the rabbit starts banging its paws on the cage, it means that it is either irritated or frightened.
Step 5
Some people try to train the rabbit to walk on a leash. Do this gradually, and do not use a regular collar (since the rabbit will never get used to it), but a special harness that is used for small breeds of dogs. Put on the leash for a few minutes first. Repeat this procedure regularly as you increase the time the harness is on the rabbit. After about a week, let the rabbit out of the cage on a leash and walk around the apartment with it. When you are thinking about going outside, try to choose a quiet place without dogs.
Step 6
Rabbits can be trained to do a variety of tricks. But remember that at first, any correct movement of the rabbit must be supported by a treat (for example, a piece of carrot).
