Step 1
The frequency of bathing depends on how active the dog is on the street and how long it spends there. You also need to check with your veterinarian or breed connoisseur how often water treatments are recommended. For different breeds, the number of baths can be completely different. To avoid an allergic reaction in your dog to shampoo and conditioner (if this is the first wash or a new product), you need to do a paw bend test - a drop of shampoo and conditioner should be applied the day before bathing. If there is no irritation, you can safely wash your pet.
Step 2
Before bathing, long-haired dogs need to be carefully but thoroughly combed, mats should be cut with scissors.
Step 3
Water should be poured into the bath so that it only reaches the middle of the paws. In order not to damage the bath, you need to lay a rubber mat in it, which will also protect the pet from slipping and falling. The dog can be nervous, so you need to talk to it affectionately, stroke it. When the tub is full, place the dog inside and start washing. You need to water the animal from the shower or using a ladle with warm water to wet all the fur.
Step 4
Wash your dog strictly with dog shampoo. If it is not there, in no case experiment with shampoos for people - they are designed for a completely different PH of the skin. The shampoo is applied in small doses and the dog is lathered in smooth movements from head to tail.
Step 5
When the washing process is completed, the water must be drained and after that you can begin to rinse off the shampoo, making sure that it does not remain under the ears, on the belly or under the tail.
Step 6
A dog conditioner is optional, but it is recommended for long-haired dogs to make brushing easier. Conditioner should be applied for a couple of minutes and then rinsed thoroughly.
Step 7
After the end of all procedures, the dog needs to be wrapped in a towel while still in the bath and soaked well. Long-haired dogs do not need to be wiped clean, as the coat can become tangled. You will need a couple more towels to lay on the floor. There should be no drafts in the apartment all the time while your pet dries.
