The land turtle needs a certain space, which will create an optimal ecosystem suitable for habitat. Set up a terrarium or a special aviary in your apartment. The humidity level should not be too low. In the period from November to March, these pets need wintering at a temperature of 3-8 ° C and an air humidity of 90%. The terrarium soil should also be appropriate. Since land turtles most often live in desert areas, the soil should also be sandy.

Make the right diet for your pet. Land turtles are herbivorous, so the main diet should consist of fruits and vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, apples, cabbage, tomatoes, lettuce, dandelion, plantain, quinoa, coltsfoot, sorrel, nettle). Some hard-boiled eggs are allowed.
Wash the fruit thoroughly before feeding to avoid giving your turtle moldy or rotten foods. Finely chop solid feed with a knife or grate, mix. Serve the vegetable and fruit mixture on a wide, low pan. Add barley or oat sprouts to your food periodically. Stir in seaweed in small portions.

In land turtles, paws and the lower part of the shell quickly become dirty, so you need to bathe your pet once a week. Pour some warm water at a temperature of 26-30 ° C into a bowl or bath. Submerge the turtle in water and use a soft bristled toothbrush to clean the shell and paws. Do not overdo it so as not to damage the carapace. And do not forget to clean the enclosure of food debris and faeces weekly.
