Instilling good manners in your dog is not that difficult. Even mongrels are trainable.
Every child dreams of a dog. But convincing parents to allow them to buy a puppy is extremely difficult. How to persuade my mother to get a dog, I had no idea. A chance came to the rescue. Our little neighbor came running to us, all tear-stained, holding a bundle in her hands. It turns out that her grandfather was going to drown the poor thing and it was necessary to save her.
So my first dog was not a shepherd, not a poodle or a collie, but a black mongrel. There was a cross between a lapdog and a terrier. Mickey, as I called my favorite, settled in the apartment. She was just over a month old. Before the dog had time to settle down with us, problems in the family immediately began. It bothered my parents that the dog goes to the toilet anywhere. Of course, she was small, and I forgave her this bad trait. But it was necessary to accustom the puppy to hygiene and cleanliness.
In numerous manuals on dog breeding on the topic "how to train a puppy to ask to go to the toilet," I still could not find an answer to my burning question and decided to act on my own. Seeing that Mickey made another puddle or a pile, I poked her nose right there. Maybe cruel, the dog clearly didn't like it.
The dog's training lasted more than a month. Sometimes I even felt sorry for her. What can you do, life in the apartment left its mark. Finally, I waited for the results of my efforts. I was able to teach the dog to ask to go outside. Puddles, of course, sometimes happened, but less and less. By the age of one year the dog had become completely independent and clean and never let me down. It turns out that you can teach a mongrel to ask for a toilet and behave no worse than a purebred dog! I walked her three times a day. This is quite enough to take a walk and relieve themselves on the street.
By the way, my dog lived for 13 years and died of old age.
