The Cocker Spaniel's coat is quite long and requires careful maintenance. The dog must be combed out and washed daily no more than twice a month. You can use only special shampoos for washing, since those created for people spoil wool very much.
It is necessary
- - special shampoos;
- - air conditioning;
- - cotton swabs;
- - petroleum jelly.
Instructions
Step 1
Comb out dead hair, disassemble and remove tangles, if any. If you don’t remove them, they will become even more felted after washing. Fill the tub or basin with warm water (no higher than 36-37 degrees) so that it covers only the dog's paws up to the hocks.
Step 2
Dilute the special shampoo 1: 4 with water. Place cotton swabs dipped in petroleum jelly into your cocker spaniel's ears. Then place the dog in water and thoroughly wet its coat.
Step 3
Slowly pour half of the shampoo diluted with water onto the dog's back and lather, starting at the feet, until a lather forms. Massage well, then rinse the coat with warm clean water. Repeat the procedure one more time using the remaining half of the diluted shampoo. Be careful and watch out for the shampoo to not get into your dog's eyes. Be sure to wash the area around your ears and muzzle.
Step 4
Be sure to use a rinse aid after shampooing. It will nourish the coat, facilitate combing, protect it from the harmful effects of the external environment, dryness and brittleness. If the rinse aid is liquid, dilute it in the same way as the shampoo. If you wish, you can not wash it off completely, leaving a little on the coat.
Step 5
Dry the dog with a terry towel and dry it with a powerful hairdryer while brushing it continuously. Hold the hair dryer so that the stream of air goes under the strand that was previously pulled out with the brush. The power of the hair dryer should be at least 400 W, and the air jet going to the dog should be warm. Cover parts of your body that will dry later with a towel. This must be done so that the wool does not dry out.
Step 6
After drying, check the coat, it must be completely dry. If you leave it even a little damp, it will lose its luster and stick together. In winter, after washing, do not take the cocker spaniel for a walk for 4-5 hours to avoid colds.
