Cats are by nature very finicky. And the unlucky owner sometimes has to thoroughly smash his head to understand what a fluffy dictator really needs. The cat begins to show its independent character even “from its youngest claws”. Therefore, it is much easier to teach a kitten something than to be perplexed about the will of an adult cat later.
Instructions
Step 1
Carefully follow the kitten's movements around the house so that he does not notice you. Maybe he, using his tray in the shared toilet for its intended purpose, does not miss the opportunity to drink. From the toilet.
Step 2
Observe the kitten during his walks around the house. See if he drinks water from dishes that were not intended for him (for example, from a mug or flower vase forgotten near the monitor). You can present a mug to him, but remove the vase better if you are not attracted by the prospect of losing it.
Step 3
If the kitten enjoys drinking water from the tap, then do not chase him or try to drag him to the bowl by force. The fact is that cats prefer running water, and if the kitten liked to drink in this way, it is almost impossible to retrain him. Leave it as it is. And before going to work, leave either a weak stream or water in the sink.
Step 4
Make sure your kitten has access to fresh water at all times. Cats can disgustedly turn away from the water in the evening, if it has not been changed in the morning.
Step 5
Change the dishes that you think the kitten should drink from. The plastic used in the bowl can give the water an unpleasant taste. The same goes for metal bowls. But from earthenware dishes, the kitten will surely lap up water or milk.
Step 6
Some cats do not like it when there is another dish near the bowl of food (cats do not see water). Move the dishes with water to another corner of the room in which you feed the kitten, and after the meal, gently bring it to her and slightly moisten the paws or nose. Perhaps he will not rush to immediately lick his wet paws, but nevertheless he will be interested in the bowl, or rather, its contents.
Step 7
If you feed your kitten with wet food, then it is likely that he simply has enough of the water that he receives with food.
