Step 1
Nutritional problems are most common in kittens that are given to new owners too early. They have not yet weaned themselves from mother's milk and have not had time to switch to food for adult animals.
Step 2
It is worth starting feeding with milk. Heat fresh milk, pour it into a bowl. For convenience, place the kitten on the table and place the bowl over its face. If the animal backs away and does not understand what you want from it, try to slightly dip its muzzle into milk. He will be forced to lick his coat and may be interested in taste. If this does not happen, try again - sooner or later the kitten will give up.
Step 3
Sometimes kittens refuse to drink because the bowl on the floor is too low. Buy dishes set on special non-slip supports - the kitten does not need to bend over to drink and eat from them.
Step 4
When the baby learns to drink milk, offer him meat pâté for kittens. Animals treat it differently - some eagerly pounce on new food, while others are completely indifferent to it. Place some pate on your finger and bring it to the kitten's mouth, encouraging the little one to try the new food. If he licks the pate, consider that you have coped with your task. Put some food in a saucer and offer to the animal.
Step 5
Take your time and do not be nervous - sooner or later the kitten will react to your attempts to feed him. Do not offer your pet dry food and large pieces of food - he simply will not cope with them. In addition, special canned food for kittens is balanced in composition and ensures the normal functioning of the baby's gastrointestinal tract.
Step 6
Don't forget to offer your baby water. If he drinks little and is reluctant, do not insist - there are animals that consume little liquid. Keep in mind that cats are very sensitive to bowl cleanliness. Change the water regularly to fresh water, even if the kitten drank very little. It is clear water that can awaken his interest in drinking.
Step 7
You can determine if your baby is eating well by checking his litter box. If the cat regularly (and not without result) visits him, everything is in order. Please note that the food intake rate for each animal is different.
