Often, adult cats and kittens suffer from various parasites. Fleas are very well adapted for existence on the body of domestic animals - wingless insects, flattened from the sides and having serrated jaws. Flea saliva that gets into a bite wound causes an allergic reaction, and the presence of a large number of parasites can lead to anemia and provoke the death of kittens.
Instructions
Step 1
Before using antiparasitic drugs, remember a few simple rules:
- carefully study the label of the purchased product. Some drugs are suitable for killing fleas in dogs, but are contraindicated in cats due to their grooming habit;
- never mix drugs with different effects. You can use separately shampoos and sprays that save from parasites, but the simultaneous use of these funds leads to poisoning;
- carry out prevention of fleas;
- using the drug for the first time, apply a dose less than the recommended dose to observe the cat's behavior;
- If you notice a negative reaction, immediately bathe the cat in clean warm water and immediately show the animal to the veterinarian.
Step 2
Put a flea collar on your cat. Substances located on the surface of the tape are gradually transferred to the skin and hair of the animal and have a repellent effect on fleas. Since some types of collars are dangerous for kittens, sick and elderly cats, carefully read the instructions. Please note that if the animal is heavily infested with parasites, then the fleas can simply move towards the tail, away from the spread of the drug. Observe the behavior of the cat: freedom-loving animals are not always ready to tolerate the presence of a collar on their body.
Step 3
Wash your cat using a flea-killing shampoo, soap, or foam. Do not lather the animal's face, especially carefully avoid getting the product on the nose, eyes and ears. After the time recommended in the instructions, rinse thoroughly and wrap the cat in a towel. Try not to let him lick his coat until it dries completely.
Step 4
Use a cat spray. Gently but firmly grab the scruff of the animal and spray the product for 3-4 seconds, first along the back and then along the abdomen. If it is not possible to carry out the procedure outdoors, treat the cat in rooms where there is no drinking water, food, or aquariums.
Step 5
Apply anti-flea drops using a dropper. Apply on the back between the shoulder blades of the cat or at the base of the skull in the neck. Observe the dosage indicated in the instructions attached to the drops.
Step 6
With a small comb, comb out the adult parasites, as well as their larvae and eggs, from the cat's hair. To prevent fleas, use thick cotton bags filled with crushed leaves of bitter wormwood. Spread them out where your cat likes to sleep, as the smell of this plant repels parasites.
