This is especially true for dogs of smooth-haired breeds, for which the coat does not always serve as protection in rain and snow, and even in cold winds.
Sizes of clothes for dogs
For the most part, dogs of different breeds have a proportional build, which is often a sign of a particular breed. This allows dog clothing to be standardized in the same size as human clothing. In the case of four-legged mods, the size is determined by three parameters, which include the girth of the neck and back, as well as the length of the dog's back from the withers to the base of the tail. It is these parameters that make it possible to take into account the physique features of dogs of any breeds, since the proportions in their constitution are violated mainly due to the length of the paws. In accordance with these dimensions, you can always choose clothes for your pet that will sit beautifully on him, but will not restrain his movement.
Clothes for dogs are marked with Latin letters: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL, these are the sizes. Size XS is designed for those animals whose back length is 13-17 cm, chest girth - 22-27 cm, and neck girth - 13-18 cm. Size S is for dogs with parameters: 17-23 cm, 27-33 cm and 18-23 cm, respectively; size M - for those who have torso parameters 23-28 cm, 34-40 cm and 23-27 cm, size L - for those who have parameters: 28-35 cm, 40-45 cm and 27-31 cm. For dogs of large breeds, the sizes indicated by the letters XL, XXL, XXXL are intended. How to choose the size of clothes for your dog
In some size charts for reference, in addition to letters, dog breeds are indicated, but you need to be guided, first of all, by the size of your pet. To find the right size clothes, it is enough to measure the dog correctly. For measurements, it is best to use a tailor's measuring tape. Stand the dog upright and measure the length of its back from the top of the withers to the base of the tail. In order for the clothes to fit, the resulting size must be adjusted taking into account the anatomical features of the dog. So, if her physique is dense and her chest is bulky enough, add one size. For dogs with slender build, the size should be reduced.
The girth of the chest is measured at its widest part along a line passing near the front legs. For a free fit, you can add a couple of centimeters more, but this must be done taking into account the model that you have chosen.
Neck circumference is the circumference measured at the widest part of the neck. It is usually identical to the length of the collar. Make sure that the chosen model does not squeeze the dog's throat if the collar is high and narrow.
