Step 1
Contrary to the opinion of most people, a dog needs shoes - in the autumn slushy weather it will protect the Yorkie's paws from dirt, and in the winter it will warm them and protect the paw pads from chemicals and reagents that are sprinkled on icy sidewalks. In addition, the boots allow you to keep a cut or damaged paw clean and dry.

Sewing boots for dogs is very easy - for this you need a dense waterproof fabric or leather that will not slip on different surfaces. Cut four soles out of thick rubberized fabric, matching the sole size to the size of the dog's feet. Then cut out four "stockings" from a thinner waterproof fabric, stitching a rectangle of fabric into the tube.
Step 3
Stitch the bottom edge of the "pipe" to the sole of the boot. The front boots should be lower than the hind boots - the length of the rear boot should be such that it overlaps the hock of the hind foot. You can use simple Velcro straps as boot fasteners. The upper edge of the boots can be pulled together with a lace to keep water out.
Step 4
These boots can be made overnight by measuring the diameter of the dog's paws, as well as the height from the ground to the wrist. If you are not sure that you are able to cut straight circles from the fabric right away, make a blank pattern by drawing straight circles, the radius of which is equal to the radius of the paws.
Step 5
In addition to footwear, the dog needs an overalls made of waterproof fabric with insulation. Measure the length of the dog's back by wearing the collar and measuring the distance from the collar to the base of the tail. Divide the resulting figure by eight. Draw a grid on a sheet of tracing paper. The length of the side of the square of the net will equal the number you got by dividing the back length by eight.
Step 6
Transfer the pattern of the jumpsuit to the mesh. Remember that the jumpsuit consists of two identical parts - right and left. Also in the overalls there is one unpaired part - a wedge, which is sewn between the front paws with a wide end. Cut the fabric out of the fabric by adding seam allowances, then stitch them together with a sturdy double stitch.

Adjust the length of the legs according to the length of the dog's legs, fold the lower edges of the legs, sew and insert elastic into all four legs. Connect the parts of the jumpsuit with a detachable zipper or Velcro. To protect your dog from the rain, you can sew a hood for the jumpsuit.
Step 8
A lightweight clothing option for a dog is a knitted vest that can be worn in cool, dry weather. As in the previous case, measure the length of the back, divide it by eight and transfer the pattern to the grid, the square of which is equal to the resulting number. Then measure your dog's chest and waist.
Step 9
Match the measurements to the pattern. Start knitting with an elastic band on a piece of fabric that is the same width as the dog's waist. Add loops until their number is equal to the girth of the chest. Tie a leg cutout and knit the back and then the neckline.
Step 10
Knit the chest loops by removing them on one knitting needle. The product needs to be sewn with a thread and a needle on the stomach, and then separately sew a wedge between the front paws. Such a vest can also be made from ordinary fabric.
