Small claws of your pet can bring great inconvenience: it is a spoiled look of home furniture, and scratches on your skin, and an unpleasant scratching sound at night. How can you prevent such troubles?
The radical method in this case is onychectomy, or claw removal surgery, performed under general anesthesia. The animal is extremely difficult to tolerate such a procedure. Therefore, the more humane, although requiring regularity, is the usual cat manicure, or, simply, clipping.
Clipping claws will require you to prepare special tools - tweezers, or special claws - and some dexterity. Cats, as a rule, are not happy with this procedure, so it is important to be able to hold your pet in such a way that he does not slip out and, moreover, does not bite or scratch you. The most violent are recommended to wrap with a towel. It is much more convenient to perform such manipulations together, when one holds the cat, and the second directly processes the claws.
The most important thing in this procedure is not to damage the pulp, otherwise it will start to bleed. The pulp can be identified by its pinkish color. For convenience, you need to press on the pad so that the claws are fully visible, and cut off the upper sharp part of the claw.
Regular pruning is about once every 3-4 weeks.
Do not forget to cook something tasty for your pet, so that after trimming the claws, you will smooth out the unpleasant impression on your pet.
