Often people have to travel with their pets: when going on vacation, purchasing a puppy abroad, participating in exhibitions held in other countries. So that the customs office does not have any questions for you, you should prepare in advance all the documents necessary for transporting a dog across the border.

It is necessary

  • - veterinary passport;
  • - Veterinary certificate in the form No. 1;
  • - certificate of absence of breeding value;
  • - stamp or microchip;
  • - carrying;
  • - baggage ticket.

Instructions

Step 1

To transport an animal within the CIS, you will need a veterinary passport and a certificate in form No. 1. All vaccinations must be noted on the veterinary passport. It is imperative that rabies vaccination is carried out no earlier than a year and a trip and no less than 30 days. Form one can be obtained from the state veterinary station. It should contain information that your dog is healthy at the time of the examination, and that it does not have worms. The certificate must be issued no earlier than three days before the trip.

Step 2

If you are exporting a dog to the EU, then in addition to the above documents, you will need a certificate stating that the animal does not represent breeding value. You can get it at the central club of service dog breeding, the club of the All-Russian Council for Hunting Dogs or the club of the Federation of Amateur Dog Breeding, depending on the breed of the dog. Also, your pet must have a stamp or microchip, information about which will be indicated in the veterinary passport. The form No. 1 certificate must be translated into English or German and certified.

Step 3

Inquire about the rules for the carriage of animals in the airline whose services you plan to use. Most often, small dogs weighing up to eight kilograms are allowed on airplanes. Dogs must be carried in a special carrier. Larger animals must travel in the hold and are charged the same as baggage. On passenger trains, animals must also be carried in carriers, and a special baggage ticket is purchased for them.

Step 4

When planning a trip, be sure to read the rules for importing animals into the country where you intend to travel, as well as the rules of the countries through which you will transit. For example, the importation of fighting dog breeds is prohibited in Germany, and permission from the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service must be obtained to import an animal into Australia. If you familiarize yourself with the list of required documents in advance, you will be able to transport your animal without any problems.
