Squirrels are smart, beautiful, clean and friendly animals. They are easy enough to tame. Observing these cute animals is a great pleasure for both children and adults. How do you buy a squirrel?
Instructions
Step 1
Determine the location of the protein
It is believed that protein can be contained both in suburban areas and in a city apartment. However, it should be remembered that squirrels, strictly speaking, are not pets and their relationship with humans is not always successful.
When buying an animal, you should not count on the fact that you will be able to pick it up whenever you want or play with it for a long time. Such options, of course, do happen, but they are the exception rather than the rule.
Also, do not forget that proteins are very mobile and active. In order for the animal to feel comfortable and not get sick, it needs to jump a lot and climb trees. And even the famous wheel is not always a salvation. For example, after just a few months of improper maintenance, the claws of an animal, deprived of the ability to jump from branch to branch, grow so much that they begin to cling to the fabric, and also interfere with movement on a smooth surface.
Step 2
Prepare your squirrel enclosure. The size of the enclosure is determined at the rate of 1.5x1.5 square meters per animal. The cage frame must be made of metal, because squirrels are rodents, and a wooden enclosure is not a significant obstacle for them. The walls of the cage, as a rule, are covered with a metal mesh with a mesh size of no more than 15 sq. Mm. If the aviary is to be installed outdoors, it is necessary to equip a gable roof.
Be sure to place branches, shelves and driftwood in the cage. Install the wheel.
Put up a house - an ordinary nest box will do. In order for the animal to make it cozy, it will be necessary to place "building material" in the aviary - cotton wool, straw, scraps of woolen threads, pieces of fabric.
Step 3
It is recommended to buy squirrel in pet stores or specialized nurseries - so you can be sure that you are purchasing a healthy animal. It is highly undesirable to buy protein in the markets, because you run the risk of buying a wild or sick animal, communication with which will not give you any pleasure.
Step 4
There are a number of questions to ask when buying protein. Check if this squirrel was bred in captivity or caught in the forest. For home keeping, animals born in nurseries in the second or third generation are ideal.
Find out how friendly the animal is - squirrels can bite very painfully. Is she trying to escape?
Be sure to check the age of the animal. The average lifespan of a protein is 10-15 years.
Ask about what kind of food the animal is used to, whether it is gaining weight, what is its daily diet.
Make sure that all rodent vaccinations have been made and that the animal has official documents.
