The transfer of a cat from homemade food to dry food very often ends with problems with the gastrointestinal tract. In order to prevent this from happening, you need to properly change the diet of your furry pet.
It is necessary
- -seven days;
- -quality dry food.
Instructions
Step 1
First of all, you need to know that all changes in nutrition should be gradual. Accustoming an animal to a new food should be carried out within seven days.
Step 2
First you need to take some dry food and soak it in a little water, then mix it with your cat's usual food. The proportion of soaked feed must be increased every day.
Step 3
If you are giving your pet broths, the food can be soaked in them instead of in water.
Step 4
On day 4, try not to soak the food, but simply pour it into a saucer with homemade food in a 50-50 ratio.
Step 5
On the fifth to sixth days, proportionally increase the amount of dry food and reduce the amount of homemade food.
Step 6
On the seventh day, add only dry food to the bowl.
Step 7
During the period of accustoming the cat to ready-made food, watch the chair. If translated correctly, it shouldn't change radically. If your pet has diarrhea or constipation, then you should consult with your veterinarian - it may be that this food is allergic to your cat or is simply poorly absorbed.
Step 8
When choosing dry food, you should be aware that only premium food is completely balanced and does not require the introduction of additional complementary foods. Keep in mind that if you choose an economy class food, then in addition to dry food, you must give your cat additional food, as well as vitamin supplements.
