Dry food is convenient and easy to use. Premium and super premium pet food manufacturers provide a wide range of specialized diets. But even the best and highest quality puppy food should be transferred gradually, over five to seven days.
Instructions
Step 1
On the first day, the proportion of dry food should not exceed a fifth of the puppy's daily diet. Give the puppy a try on the new food and mix the rest into regular food. Watch your puppy. If an allergic reaction occurs (itching, redness of the skin of the ears, between the fingers, etc.), the transition to a new food should be stopped.
Step 2
On the second day, you can reduce the proportion of the usual diet, and add dry food to morning and evening feeds. If this led to digestive upsets, you need to be careful to switch to a new feed, or even abandon this idea for a while.
Step 3
On the third day, replace completely one of the feedings with a third of the daily feed requirement. It is best if it is a morning or afternoon feeding.
Step 4
On the fourth or fifth day, you can gradually eliminate the old food from the diet. Make sure your puppy always has fresh drinking water freely available. Try not to exceed the daily feed rate (the table of rates can usually be found on the food packaging).
