It's not uncommon for cats not to feed tiny kittens that were born sick or unviable. Usually it is 1-2 kittens for the whole lamb - while it is almost impossible to force the mother to feed such children, since cats have highly developed natural instincts. Also, refusal to feed can be associated with too difficult childbirth - if the cat is unhealthy, weak and in pain, she will not spend energy on feeding the kittens until she recovers. If the healing process takes a long time, the cat may simply lose milk or interest in kittens. Feeding and physical / psychological trauma sustained by the cat during childbirth are affected.
Step 2
In addition, the cat may refuse to feed the babies if the environment seems unsafe to her - for example, there is another animal in the house, it is too noisy around, or the kittens are constantly being picked up, and so on. The giving birth cat needs to provide a cozy and closed place from prying eyes, where she can fully surrender herself to the happiness of motherhood. If the cat did not receive physical injuries, the birth was successful, and the environment around is as favorable as possible, try to lay it on one side and slip it to the nipples of the kittens - very often the maternal instinct works, albeit with a delay, but turns on.
Step 3
If none of the above methods work, the kittens will have to be fed on their own. You can replace cat milk with 50 g whole cow's milk, 2.5 g dry yeast and 15 g whole milk powder. You can also mix egg yolk with 0.5 L of concentrated milk and 4 tsp. granulated sugar or dilute concentrated powdered milk with cream in fennel broth. A good substitute would be a mixture of 50 g of a whole hard-boiled egg, 1 g of vegetable oil, 50 g of beaten egg white and 4 g of grape sugar. It is strongly not recommended to use raw cow's milk for feeding.
Step 4
You can feed kittens using a special bottle and nipple sold in veterinary pharmacies - you can also use a syringe without a needle or a plastic eyedropper that has been previously sterilized with boiling water. The supply of food should be prepared for a day, no more, and stored in the refrigerator, warming up to 38 ° C before feeding. It is very important that kittens learn to suck on their own through the narrow opening. In the first few days of life, 1 tsp is enough for them. milk mixture every 2 hours.
