Some short-haired dogs, accustomed to city apartments, feel very uncomfortable outside during the cold season. They do not want to walk, they pull the owner back into the apartment, and the most sensitive can even catch a cold. Such a sissy needs warm clothes. The easiest option is a blanket with insulation. Sewing it is not difficult if you have the most basic tailoring skills.

You don't have to buy new fabric to sew warm clothes for your pet. An old jacket made of Bologna, polyester, calendered nylon and any other fairly lightweight waterproof fabric will do just fine. A sheet synthetic winterizer is suitable as insulation, but it is better to take fleece. The lining requires a slip fabric, preferably synthetic. For work, you will also need an elastic band, wide braid, a measuring tape, a sheet of paper, a ruler, a pencil and sewing accessories.

The easiest way is to sew a triangular blanket. To build a pattern, take 2 measurements. Measure the length of the dog from withers to tail and the distance between the hocks by running a tape measure along the front leg and base of the neck to the second hock.

Draw a straight line. Mark the distance between the hocks on it. Divide this segment in half and draw a perpendicular to the middle. Set the length of the dog's body on it. Connect this point with straight lines to the ends of the first segment.

Cut out blanks from all types of fabric according to the pattern. By the way, some synthetic fabrics are more convenient to cut not with scissors, but with something hot, like a soldering iron or a burner. This method is suitable for calendered nylon and some types of knitwear. Lay the lining on a horizontal surface face down, lay a layer of insulation on it, and on top - a layer of waterproof fabric, but face up. Sweep away all layers.

Fold wide tape or tape in half, right side out, aligning the edges. Iron the fold. Place the edge of the blanket between the layers of tape and sew neatly around the perimeter with a basting stitch. Remember to sew a tail loop at the top of the corner. It can be made from the same tape or from an elastic band. It should be of such a size that you do not have to forcefully pull it over the tail. If necessary, you can cut the tape into pieces equal to the length of each side plus a hem allowance and sew separately. Stitch on the trim. You can use a strip of fabric instead of tape. Long cuts of such a strip are best folded inward and ironed.

Mark the locations for the clips. The easiest way to make them is from regular linen gum. You need at least two locks - on the front legs. They are performed in the form of loops. The size should be such that the loop does not slip, but also does not squeeze the leg. Baste the ends of the buttonholes to the backing layer. If you wish, you can also make a belt from the braid. A small carabiner can be used as a clasp.
