At 4-5 weeks of age, the kittens have outgrown their awkward infancy and have not yet acquired adolescent angularity. It is during this period that they are especially cute, which the owners often "stake" on: this is one of the most popular periods for the "attachment" of feline offspring. The appearance of a month-old kitten
In the first three weeks of life, the body of kittens is clearly disproportionate: too large a head, short legs, small ears pressed to the head. By the month this picture changes dramatically. The body of a kitten at this age looks proportional and harmonious, the fur is fluffy. Ears rise and stand upright, although they still look small (kittens will start to produce the impression of "lop-eared" later, in one and a half to two months). A healthy cub at this age looks like a rather plump "bun" with thick legs.
In the kitten's mouth, fully formed milk incisors are already flaunting - small teeth in the front of the mouth. Milk fangs also grow - long and sharp. They begin to erupt at 3-4 weeks and are located on the sides of the incisors.
The eyes of monthly kittens are clear and clean, blue or bluish-gray: by the age of one and a half months they will change their color to "adult", permanent.
During this period, the kitten begins to grow rapidly and gain weight. It usually weighs between 250 and 450 grams per month.
Behavior of kittens in one month
In the fourth or fifth week of life, kittens begin to actively learn about the world around them, they are mobile, playful and very curious. They move quite confidently, although sometimes a little awkward (they will begin to fully coordinate their body at the age of one and a half to two months). But in a month they already begin to use the famous feline reflexes and are quite capable of landing after jumping on all four legs or making a sharp turn in a jump.
At about three weeks of age, kittens begin to actively play with their brothers and sisters - waving their paws, "wrestling", biting each other. By the month they begin to show interest in "extraneous" moving objects: various balls, "fishing rods" with feathers, the famous paper bows. And the human hand can also be a suitable "sparring partner".
At this time, the mother cat begins to control her offspring less and allows them to move far enough from the nest. At the same time, kittens stop feeding exclusively on mother's milk and switch to a mixed diet "milk + complementary foods", learn to lap and eat from a bowl. With the beginning of this process, the cat gradually stops "licking" the cubs, but she can teach them how to use the litter box. The main thing during this period is to put the tray next to the habitat of the feline family and ensure its accessibility for babies.
