Taming a parrot is a very time consuming and troublesome task that will take you quite a lot of time. But in the event that you correctly distribute your training and practice with your pet regularly, then you will be able to tame your pet much faster.
Instructions
Step 1
If the parrot is in your house for the first time (for example, you recently bought it or just gave it to you), then he needs to be given time to get used to a new place. After a few weeks, your pet will get used to the environment and will constantly move and twitter. However, when you approach, he will still run nervously and shy away from the feed.
Step 2
It's time to start taming it. First of all, it is necessary to ensure that the bird is not afraid to be on your hand, because all subsequent training will be much more fruitful if the parrot sits on your shoulder and listens attentively. Try to figure out what kind of food is a treat for your pet. For example, it can be any herb (dandelion or wood lice) or nuts.
Step 3
Try hand-feeding instead of spoon-feeding. In this case, it is necessary to speak affectionately with him, to call him by name. Slowly and carefully, stick your hand with the treat into the cage. The bird is unlikely to immediately approach the food, because for this she will have to step on your hand, which she is afraid to do. At first, it is advisable to hold food between your index and thumb so that the parrot at least stepped on your fingers.
Step 4
In the twilight light, the bird will become more trusting and will allow you to move your hand a little. You can just keep your palm in the cage while sitting next to it. After a while, the hungry pet will come to the stern, despite its fear. Do not rush things, be consistent and do not forget to talk affectionately with the parrot.
Step 5
Beware of losing the bird's trust. Parrots are very sensitive and vindictive, they will remember the insult for a long time.
Step 6
After one day the bird sits on your hand, try to gently remove it from the cage. Walk around the room and then, with the same care, return the parrot back. With each walk, you need to increase the distance that you walk with the parrot in hand. It is also important to bring the bird up to your face as often as possible. After a while, your pet will want to sit on your head or shoulder.
