Each dog breed must meet a certain standard and fit its exterior, and German Shepherds are no exception. If you are looking to raise a high class dog, at an early age it is worth paying attention to how the ears of a shepherd puppy develop. They rise to an upright position at different ages - in some dogs this occurs in a month, in others at three months. Sometimes the ears develop unevenly, and if your dog has one ear up and the other down, steps should be taken to position the shepherd's ears.

Step 1
If your puppy's ears are still not raised by 4 months, use a positioning method that is highly effective and does not cause discomfort to the dog. The sooner you correct the defect and teach your puppy to keep the ears upright, the less problems you will have in the future, when the puppy grows up and turns into an adult dog.
Step 2
Wipe the inside of the puppy's ears with a piece of cotton wool soaked in alcohol. Put on rubber gloves and a large hair curler. Insert the pencil into the hole with the eraser first, then apply Permatex Super Weatherstrip3 to the curlers.
Step 3
After two minutes, keeping the dog's ear in a straight position, place the curlers with a piece of cotton wool at the end in the ear, and then wrap the curlers around the edges of the ear, connecting them.
Step 4
Wait for the curlers to adhere and the ear does not unfold. Repeat the procedure on both ears. After two weeks, remove the curlers from your ears and lubricate them from the inside with a special healing ointment that soothes irritation.
Step 5
In order to further clean the ear, regularly treat its inner surface with cotton wool, wound on a stick and dipped in alcohol. Regular grooming of your dog's ears is essential if you want your dog to be healthy and strong.
