Spiders are among the most ancient inhabitants of our planet. This arthropod species appeared more than 400 million years ago. At the moment, science knows 40,000 species of spiders, 30,000 of which are poisonous. But most of them have too fragile and short fangs to bite through human skin.

Why is a spider bite dangerous?

The spider bite causes necrosis and has neurotoxic effects. The first type of impact is inherent in brown and some domestic spiders, the second - in the karakurt family. The most poisonous component of the venom is a peptide that disrupts neuromuscular transmission.

Remember that a spider bite is always poisonous, since this type of arthropod is one of the predators that defend themselves with the help of poison and get their own food. The bite can be downright unpleasant or deadly.

How to identify a bite on the skin

A spider bite immediately appears as a white spot with a red or pinkish edge. After 5–20 minutes, muscle pains appear, often cramps, redness and swelling of the face.

The site of the attack of the tarantula is easy to identify by a spherical spot of pale color. After 1–2 hours, the blister may turn into a wound. Lack of measures will lead to the formation of an erosive wound.

The brown recluse spider leaves an irregular trail with bluish purple, red and white edges. The rapidly growing spot eventually turns into an ulcer on the surface of the skin.

The most difficult thing is to identify a karakurt bite that does not appear on the skin. On closer inspection, you can see a microscopic red dot, which disappears in the shortest possible time.

Spider bite symptoms

The bite of a brown spider provokes severe pain that covers the damaged area of the body. Itching, located at the site of the bite, spreads throughout the body. The systemic effect of the poison is manifested by fever, chills, nausea and vomiting, arthralgia, convulsions, arterial hypotension, thrombocytopenia, renal failure.

The bite of a karakurt is manifested by a compaction at the site of the bite, pain in the right hypochondrium, which resembles an attack of an inflamed appendix. The temperature rises sharply, headache appears and intensifies, general weakness and aches in the joints are observed.

The black widow is a female karakurt, her bite is considered one of the most dangerous among all that arthropods can inflict. Within an hour after the bite, sweating, erythema and piloerection at the site of the bite, agitation, anxiety, swelling of the eyelids and extremities, and difficulty breathing are observed.

Tarantula bites are extremely rarely fatal and in most cases are associated with internal pathologies. The steppe inhabitant of burrows is rarely found during the day, so his bites are rather rare. However, angry arthropods are able to shed hairs, which, if in contact with the eyes or on the skin, can cause the development of urticaria, Quincke's edema, bronchospasm, and arterial hypotension.
