With the onset of cold weather, birds that do not fly south are forced to look for food in the harsh winter conditions. People who make feeders for them often come to the aid of birds. Children of primary school age do this more than others. After all, the process of making a feeder does not require special physical efforts, develops creative thinking and fosters a sense of compassion and mutual assistance in children. The feeder can be made from any materials at hand. It is necessary to dwell in more detail on cardboard, as it is found in every home.
It is necessary
- - cardboard box;
- - stapler;
- - glue;
- - colored cardboard;
- - scissors;
- - wire.
Instructions
Step 1
You can get the cardboard for your feeder, for example, using a dairy box. The first thing you need to do is cut off the side edges at the top of the box, on which the manufacturers usually write “press”. You must connect the other edges with glue or a stapler. But you need to take into account that the glue should not be very liquid so that it does not spread along the inside of the box. Therefore, it is still better to fasten the edges with a stapler.
Step 2
Next, you need to fold the top base of the box so that it has a pyramidal shape. You must again fasten the folded part with a stapler so that the upper base does not lose the desired shape.
Step 3
The next thing you need to do is cut a hole in the front of the box with a utility knife or scissors. It is preferable, of course, to choose a knife, since it is much more convenient for them to work.
Step 4
Then you need to make a through hole at the bottom of the box. You will insert a roost into this hole so that it is more comfortable for the birds to sit and the feeder does not turn over.
Step 5
You have prepared the basic structure. Now you can start decorating to make the feeder look more presentable. Cut four strips of colored cardboard. With them you must glue the cut-out hole where the birds will fly.
Step 6
Also, from the same cardboard, cut out a rectangle that will serve as a roof for the feeder. Glue the cut out blank in its place.
Step 7
Next, you need to glue the side walls. This can be done using the same cardboard.
Step 8
The feeder is ready. It remains only to make a mount to hang it on a tree branch. To do this, at the very top, you need to make two holes and stretch a wire or thin rope through them.
