Raising chickens is not easy, they are prone to various diseases. In particular, bowel disorders are common, leading to diarrhea and, as a consequence, to death. There are many reasons for diarrhea, therefore diarrhea in chickens is treated in different ways.
The adverse effects on the tender organism of young animals include violation of the conditions of feeding and maintenance, low or high temperatures, drafts, high humidity, infections. For the treatment of chickens for diarrhea to be successful, it is necessary to establish the cause of the disease. But the first thing you should do when you see sick chicks is to put them in a separate room and provide first aid.
From medications help:
- chloramphenicol - dilute 2 tablets in 0.5 liters of water and let us drink several times a day;
- metronidazole - 1 tablet for 0.5 liters of water;
- tetracycline - 1 ton. per liter of water, but use only if there are no other medicines.
You can dilute penicillin in water and give a few drops (depending on age) three times a day.
How to treat diarrhea in chickens with folk remedies
You can treat diarrhea in chickens and folk remedies. Give them vodka: 1-2 weeks for 2-3 drops, 3-4 weeks for 5-6 drops, 5-8 weeks for 10 drops. Provide a sick bird with plenty of drink, replace water with decoctions:
- rice;
- oatmeal;
- bird cherry;
- from pomegranate crusts;
-romashkov.
Soda water (1 tablespoon of baking soda per 1 liter of water) or a weak aqueous solution of potassium permanganate helps well. To restore the salt balance, a pinch of salt must be added to the manganese solution. Red clay has astringent properties, make talkers out of it and drink it for chickens.
It is advisable to transfer the chickens to dry feeding: cereals, compound feed, hard-boiled yolk. If you are making mash, dilute them with fermented milk products: whey, yogurt. Give your chickens activated charcoal, wood ash. Do not forget about hygiene, wash dishes with potassium permanganate, change the litter more often. In small chicks, diarrhea can be caused by hypothermia, create optimal conditions for them.
If these remedies do not help cure diarrhea in chickens, contact your veterinarian, perhaps the diarrhea was triggered by an infection. The doctor will diagnose and prescribe the necessary treatment. And remember the common truth - the disease is easier to prevent than to cure. From the first days, for prevention, water the chickens with an aqueous solution of manganese or chloramphenicol (1 tablet per liter of water). Give them quality food and keep them warm.
